I sat at the table after our big dinner, and read all the ads. I really miss our shopping day, too. We're going to do a little bit tomorrow, but nothing major. I looked at the toy ads, and was simultaneously happy that I don't have to buy toys, and sad that I don't need to.

By the way, Mom... I don't appreciate you calling me "wide." Hmph.

I knew you would say that! I count myself in that group so it is OK.

I, too, have nostalgic feelings about the Shopping Day. It was a great time in our lives to bond and have fun. I am glad that I could sit here, though, and watch the news about the people who are nearly killing each other to get into malls at midnight to get the deals. They are not into the bonding thing!

I thought about our shopping day a lot today... ended up at the mall with the family. It was fun, but not at all the same. Remember the year that BJ and Kacy were infants, and we took them and Kyle? It was pouring down rain, but fun anyway.

Jill and the girls met us for breakfast that morning and then left and went elsewhere....Was that the year that we coined THE OLD BROAD????

I was remembering the first time Kacy actually went shopping with us. That was a "rite of passing" day in our family. So much fun. I don't remember when "The Old Broad" was coined. I DO remember the day you were in a wheel chair and adorned a store window's Christmas decorations. That was an interesting year! We really had some fun times and I miss those days.

If I remember right we stuck Mom with pushing the stroller around the mall while we had a blast shopping....those were special times to her too! I also remember the wheel chair thing....some thought it was funny and some did not....:)

Seems to me that most thought it was funny and ONE didn't quite think so! But...maybe my memory is getting fuzzy.

So that year would have been the closest we ever got to having ALL the girls there. We had everyone but Cayla and Bonnie present, at least for the breakfast part! I also remember that were just amazed that a few stores were opening "so early," which was probably 7 or 8, by that time. Now, they're opening at 5, and some are even doing midnight openings!

There were people who spent their whole Thanksgiving Day waiting at some store to buy something. What a waste of a great day.

Ok so I looked at the ads and I agree there was nothing (other than the bonding) that was worth going to any store for on the day after. I do miss the girl time though and I am looking forward to seeing some of you for Christmas.

I do recall, though, that many of Angela's gifts were bought on those shopping sprees. There were some deals to be had. Of course, the fun always was the best!
